sad

Hi,
I have been feeling so tired and really sad. I am not sure if this is a part of menopause or just a new stage in realizing my kids have cf. Does anyone have any idea what I could do? I feel like I am in a dark hold.

It is OK to feel sad sometimes. Caring fof kids with CF can get tough on a parent. I fell sad/tired sometimes too...as long as most of the time you are okay then it is normal. When you are in a dark place just try to pull yourself out of it by remembering that all of this work has a purpose...to keep your kids as healthy as possible<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">))

Life can be stressful without putting CF into the mix. I have days that it scares me that I am so sad. My brain knows I shouldnt be because all things considered I am very fortunate for the life I have yet there is that part that gets stuck. Fortunately for me it always passes. Sometimes it comes from lack of sleep, lack of fun, my period or even the weather. Do the best that you can in taking care of not just your kids, but yourself. Things will improve! Hand in There!

Denise,

Don't be afraid to talk with someone professional. It really helped me get through my son's diagnosis and come to terms with a lot of issues associated with it. "Therapy" is not just for those with life or death problems. Life is too short to be miserable - get some of these things worked out. You'll be glad you did. I think the best way to find someone is word of mouth. If you want to keep it private though, try calling your CF social worker. They can usually give you a good referral. Good luck and hang in there.
