My son just turned 2 and he has been sick since he was 2 months old. he has had very bad congestion that they can't get rid of. they have tried antibiotic after antibiotic, and no improvement. he has developed asthma and he is always sick. we have run tests for allergies but they are fine. he has always had little problems like all the mucus, they have stuck tubes in his nose to suction it and they are unsuccessful. he has always had his tear ducts blocked for some reason. he coughs day and night, he is always wheezing. he goes 2 - 3 days without wanting to eat, but it's weird cuz he is a little big for his age. he has gone off the growth chart, so thats the only thing that doctors say would rule out CF. he sees a lung doctor regularly and they have finally decided to test him for CF in may. what can i expect and does it sound like he has CF. every morning i pat on his back to lossen up mucus to help him breathe better and this helps a little. can anyone give me some advise or tell me what you think about his condition.

I know how you feel, Myshel...I've been there.I ORDERED my son's test when he was 3 months b/c of his stool, mucus that I could "hear" in his chest, and finally, because he was salty tasting (he didn't cough at all until he got a cold). If it is in fact CF...you can rest in the fact that he will be taken care of and get what he needs. I have found so much support (and even wonderful friends) from other CF families and even at the CF clinic. In fact life does go on, it's just different. Please know that we do know what you are going through...I was there myself just a couple of months ago!! (he's 8 months now and doing great. He went from the 10-25th percentile to the 90th now!) Please email me if you need anything or advise (augustmoon0003@aol.com)!! Also, we have a website "fightforethan.com".
