just use www.google.com and start punching in logical start points for your questions. Try "Oregano oil FAQ", "Questions Oregano oil", "Oregano oil information", "Oregano oil essential oils", etc etc etc.
Also here is a great huge scientific research database search engine where you can just type in oregano oil and can look at all the hits and read for yourself: http://www.ingentaconnect.com/
I just used the above link with electronic content selected, and typed in oregano oil, and got like 3 pages of 57 scientific articles each page. Ton of information to go through and then go from there with further reasearch regarding the substance.
But a very quick explanation: It's an essential oil from mediteranean oregano (oreganum vulgare), that contains many chemical substances that can help our lungs, from massive antioxidants (to repair/protect our DNA/tissue) to double digit different expectorants. The most important parts of oregano oil are Carvacol and Thymol. Both are extremely strong natural antimicrobials, that have been used (from the plants in the past, just the specific agents later on in our time line) as biocides for a coupel thousand years. PA (the most common CF lung bacteria) is easily dispatched by those two substances (carbacol and thymol). Thyme oil also is a great essential oil for our CF needs, but it's like oregano oils opposite in it's main components. It has more Thymol than Carvacol, where oregano oil is the opposite. There are tons and tons of proven and some believed benefits to oregano oil, thyme oil, and even other essential oils, and not many well known negative aspects. The biggest negative aspects is oregano oil and thyme oil are both blood thinners, and irritants to mucous membranes.
Look into it via google and that database link I posted if you are interested. Most people I know with CF who have started using the substance, have stayed on it in one form or another, with only two or three saying they had a non life threatening side effect like headaches or upset stomache, and quit using the substance.
For a couple large threads brimming with information and opinions, just search for my name on here or oregano oil in the search field on this forum, tons of information.
As always, with any supplemental substance, do your own research, and discuss the substance with your doctor. There is a guy from this forum who has used several different essential oils that are very well known for their antimicrobial activity, that has shown no culture of pseudamonas or staph after using the oils in a facial sauna/inhaler though, which is great news for atleast one person.
