My mother in law is 61 years old and has to have her stomach drained from fluid build up every 3 weeks. This fluid contains vital nutrients and proteins. Her doctor mentioned a procedure performed years ago in which a stint went from the stomach and up into a vein (?) putting these vital fluids directly into the bloodstream. They have not been able to find a doctor who still performs this procedure. I am slowly watching her body starve itself. She takes enzymes with evey meal, etc. Anyone know of this procedure or any one who performs it?

There's really too little info to give an answer to your question. It sounds like your MIL has ascites but the cause is what may determine the treatment options. Why does she have to have fluid drained? Stomach secretions contain a lot if substances that could/would be harmful to drain directly into the venous system.
