Setting boundaries

I don't have anything really helpful to say, but that I agree you should just be washing your hands constantly. If you go to the grocery store you are exposing yourself to way more than what those kids bring over...but at the same time--they are leaving germs in your house...

This said, is it possible that they have allergies? I know that Kaylee seems to always have a runny nose--but she doesn't have a cold. Nothing else, no cough, but a runny nose.

How is your little boy doing--is he over his cold/sore throat?

Our friends are pretty good about the whole thing, it's the relatives we have issues with. I mentioned this in my blog, but last weekend DH had to have a serious talk with his mother, a retired nursing instructor about family members coming to events with "just a cold" only to find out that it's something much worse. Most recently his uncle with COPD and who knows what else is back in the hospital with 60% lung function, coughing, sneezing up green goo and has pneumonia. Or there's the uncle with an auto immune disorder who constantly has skin infections and quite often is on IV antibiotics to try to get rid of them. Oh yeah, and then there's his cousin's kid whose 6 and is constantly coughing -- gets bronchitis and pneumonia on a regular basis. He's currently on 5 weeks of oral antibiotics. DH just managed to offend his aunt by suggesting maybe the kid get tested for CF.

I mentioned to DH that with colds, run of the mill illnesses -- that DS is probably okay, he's always on the go, doesn't have time to socialize with the oldsters and would keep his distance. 'Course DH has to freak me out by mentioning the "spray from coughing and sneezing" living on surfaces for long periods of time. Bleah!

If all that doesn't work...Tell them due to a previous conviction, you aren't allowed within 100 yards of small children. Then mumble something about how you didn't know giving liquor and porn mags to little kids was a bad thing.
