ok so i had someone lined up to make me a really cool diaper bag from one of austin's old cammie blouses, well this past week she bailed on me. i've made pillow cases in the past on my own and they turned out alright. so here lies my problem. i'm not sure how they make diaper bags sturdy enough to stand on their own. i'm pretty sure it's those round looking things on the outside of the bag at each corner. so with saying that...anyone know what in the world those are? and can you buy them in the store? i'm going to have to hand sew it all because i don't have a sewing machine, but that's ok as long as it turns out cool. anyways if anyone has some tips for me that would be awesome!

starching fabric makes it hold shape and more durable. When i make bags, I use a thick piece of cardboard on the bottom. You basically would make a small pillowcase, slip a piece of cardboard in it and sew it up. Lay this in the bottom of the bag and you get more structure and durability than without it. good luck and i'd love to see the pictures of the bag when you're done!!

Candice, That is piping. You can buy the plastic piping in a sewing store and use your fabric to cover it. You should also be able to buy it premade. Alot of diaper bags have foam in them that way you can toss them in the wash and they will still hold there shape. Hope this helps.
