Well, Grayson is doing just great, she had clinic yesterday and she is 8mos old and now weighs in at 15lbs. She got a MicKey finally and no longer has her tail.hehe My daughter has taken alot of advice from this forum and used it for extra calories(especially the carnation milkshakes)Graycie loves them. However, the clinic had a cow, said that could irritate her short gut. She has been taking them for over a week and no problems. My daughter asked about bulbous feeds during the day instead of having her plugged in all day since she in now eating around 3 full baby jars of stage 2 plus the shakes. They said they are worried about bulbous feeds for her due to it could be to senstive to her gut. They were talking about a backpack for when she starts walking for her feeds.....My question is why can she eat all of the food she does on top of 51mls for 19 hrs and she is gaining great but bulbous would hurt her? Please if anyone has a short gut, I would like some feedback on this. It doesn't make sense to us. She is gaining 1oz a day but hasn't grown at all in height since her last visit, she is still 25in. The one dr just looked at her and said "Well she just drew the short straw on the CF and short gut." WHAT????

I don't have any info on short gut, though I know there are several people here who have dealt with this issue.

I was just going to say that our gastro doctor had issues as well with carnation instant breakfast, cream and whole milk. I never told him about the cream I added to DS formula bottles or the vanilla nestle's quik. Even when DS was 3 and he pretty much told me he didn't need the carnation intant breakfast or the addition of oil or butter to his food. His view was that DS should only be on pregistimil and would eat when he was hungry, unfortunately that wasn't the case -- he wouldn't eat and would basicaly go into starvation mode.

His CF doctor in the city had a different view, told us to feed him what he'd eat, and encouraged us to feed him regular food instead of baby food, whole milk yogurt, etc.
