Sick with H. Flu... I think.

My son who is DDf508 has been culturing H. Flu for a month now and had an exacerbation of it this weekend. Shortly after his exacerbation came on, I started coming down with the same symptoms. I am still in the middle of being tested for CF.

I thought I was getting better on Augmentin but I seem to have regressed today to coughing up way more stuff than normal.. and it's more yellow today. I told the nurses here in the ER the situation and so far they are running a flu test and that's all. Should I go ahead and have the doctor run a full respiratory culture to see what else I might be culturing?

I guess my first question would be how you know that what Zeke is dealing with is an exacerbation vs. something viral? If you have it too, I'd be more inclined to think you both could a bug of some sort and that it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the H. Flu. Alyssa has cultured H. Flu before and never had any symptoms from it, but I know every kid is different. Have you had a sputum culture?

I just gave a sputum culture myself- they are going to run a full respiratory culture on me. The doctor actually agrees with me, given the circumstances.

I know Zeke has an exacerbation of H. Flu because it came up in a recent respiratory culture done this weekend. And it's more of it than he had before. He is in PICU for a bacterial blood infection due to a broken central line and the exacerbation came up this past weekend after 5 days of being in the hospital.

The dr. thinks I have pneumonia...again. For the 3rd time in 6 months. argh. Guess we'll see in a few days if it's due to H. Flu or whatever else I might be culturing.
