Sinus issues

My son justed turned 15 and is having terrible sinus issues. He had issues anout 5 years ago and has had three surgeries. Surgeries were to clean out, open up and remove polyps. These surgeries were very tramadic for him, even the ENT Dr questioned if it was worth it. Well he had a couple a good years but now he stays plugged up most of the time. He coughs a lot. We go to CF Clinic to see the Pulm Drs they say we need to see and ENT. We see the ENT (different one since his last surgeries) they constantly move away. The ENT says, "Well, we could do surgery it might help". What 15 year old is going to say 'okay let's do it' with that kind of purposol? What are other peoples experience with sinus surgeries?
I'm so frustrated!!!

I haven't had sinus surgies - I've successfull avoided them with treating my allergies (often a culprit for sinus issues) as well as using an intranasal steroid.

Is he doing either of these things?

I've had one sinus surgery before (probably 2-3 years ago). At the time, I didn't think it did much for me. However, my ENT now has me using a nasal irrigation solution at least twice a day. It's basically salt water that I shoot up my nose to keep things clear and prevent infection. It also helps for controlling my allergies. It's a homemade recipe, so if you like, I can give it to you for your son to try out.

I WOULD NOT do sugery again, if he's already had three. My doctor told me about one CF patient of his that had so much of her sinuses cleaned out/removed that she could almost no longer taste anything and thus has had problems gaining weight. I would opt for anything besides another surgical clean-out.

I'm curious about the symptoms your son has been having. My 3 yr old has had a runny nose since birth and constantly had trouble nursing, bottle drinking and even now as she drinks out of her sippy cup, she can barely breathe. She's a horrible sleeper and is constantly waking up. Does this sound familiar at all?
We've been seeing an ENT and he says that it's just like trying to drink a milkshake out of a straw for her. My older son, no CF, had adenoid surgery at 3 because of breathing problems and she seems quite similar in presentation.
I don't know what to do about because she's so young, but also seems uncomfortable.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes, to almost everything; he treats his allergies even though allergy testing showed he wasn't allergic to anything imparticular therefor he is not on shots. He does daily nasal washes. He is on on intranasal steriod. We have tried several of everything. He had his adenoids removed during one sinus surgery. I was really hoping someone out there may have been down the same road,
