sinus issues

<br>Hello, My 30-month-old son has been having some sinus issues for the past three months.  He has daily nasal drip (sometimes clear, sometimes green) and it sounds like his sinuses are stuffy--especially when he sleeps, he snores and snorts loudly throughout naps and throughout the night.  This has been happening non-stop, with no break, for about three months.  At his last clinic visit two months ago, I mentioned that this was happening, and that his appetite seems to have fallen off pretty much completely when this started, that he was also having difficulty sleepilng with this, etc.  The nurse practitioner we saw during that visit said he "just had a cold" and that there was no need to do anything.  This has continued.  We go back to clinic next week.  Every time I bring this issue up, she minimizes it.  I feel that his stuffy sinuses are having an impact on his sleep and lack of weight gain, as well as making him lethargic.  What can I do to help treat the problem.  How can I convey this to his provider?  THANKS for any advice.

I am a firm believer that saline sinse rinses help a lot. Our 12 year old started rinsing with at least once (sometimes twice a day). It was the be advice we received from the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist when he was first diagnosed with CF at age 7. And he rarely has infections. Prior he would get colds/infections every month. He uses SinuRinse - adult size now, started with the child size when he was little. We always use 1 premixed saline packet, distilled water and warm up the water 30 seconds in the microwave, without the cap on (that way the water in the cap won't overheat.) After we rinse with antibacterial soap and tap water and dry upside down on the rack that SinuRinse sells. When I have a cold, I have my own rinse bottle as well. I really think keeping sinuses clear helps keep lungs clear as well. Hope this is helpful.
