" font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: small;">Hey Ya'll,I
found out that I have Moderate Sleep Apnea with severe oxygen
desatuation. So I go again to the sleep clinic Sat over night to
for a titration study and I assume get fitted for a cpap-and
obviously be on oxgen at night. I am sooooo depressed. I know sleep
apnea is common but the oxygen thing, well, its the whole a
progression in this dang desease thing. I am so sad. I am trying to
keep my poker face on-but inside I am heart broken. So, I was
wondering if any of you have sleep apnea and have a cpap machine?
If so are you able to wear it? Does it help? What about secretions?
UGH!!!Anyone words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
you guys-Marcy36 w/CF

Hey Marcy..My Chicken Twin...

Honey Bunny.. Sleep apnea is not really related to your CF... Lucky you, you have extra stuff wrong.. but you wouldn't be my chicken twin if you didn't....

Sleep Apnea is because you are stopping breathing.., it is common in people who are overweight.... or have swollen tonsils or adnoids or something obstructing their breathing.. Sometimes it is just a condition people have..but it isn't because of you crumby lungs.. it is because you are not breathing in the air..

I can't wait to talk to you in CF2Chat chat tomorrow night.. Call me tomorrow and we can talk more..

Thinking of you...

If you have to be on oxygen at night that doesn't mean it's the end of the world for you!!!!! Lots of people have Sleep Apnea I can name 10 people I know right now and my husband is getting tested for it. Also I'm on oxygen at night or when exercising, it doesn't mean your health is deteriorating! Hang in there and just do what you need to to help your body.

my sleep clinic wanted to try a cpap with me, but i refused as i only have mild sleep apnea so cant help you there. i knew i wouldnt be able to get to sleep with a mask on. if cpap goes badly for you then maybe you could just wear oxygen [with the nasal prongs] to bed, although you will still have apnea episodes because there is no cpap keeping your lungs open. better than nothing i guess.

Ry was on a bipap for Co2 retention at night, which is a similar thing. Ask about the nasal pillows!!! Ry never tolerated masks well, and the nasal pillows solved that problem. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Marcy I have no advice to really offer on this, but I was just wanting to say hi. I have been thinking about you alot the past week or 2 and wondering how you are doing.

Have you been admitted? If so how did you like the hospital? I hope that things are going well - other than this new occuring issue - I hope you are feeling much better.

Take Care,
Lindsey
