My daughter was just diagnosed. Supposedly it is not uncommon among CFers. Any suggestions? Were you able to get it under control?

Did they not offer a treatment plan? GI diagnosed, right? My oldest has it but it's due to the transplant meds. She is on Reglan. Which is a drug that alot of docs are no longer prescribing because of one of it's side effects. She tried going off but ended up needing to go back on it. So far as we know, there is not another med. that treats it, available in the US.

The doctor prescribed low dose erythromycin, which is supposed to stimulate stomach contractions to get the food out. He didn't want to prescribe reglan due to the side effects. I read some on-line sources, but was curious about real life experience. Does it ever get better?

I think my daughter may have this. I am going to ask to be referred to a GI doc soon.
What are the symptoms your daughter has?
We have tried Reglan but no changes.

I have been on Eythromycin for about two weeks now for my Delayed Emptying. It works so so. I find it to be very irritating to my stomach. I have had better success with Reglan. If you are worried about Reglan, your daughter can take Domperidone. It works like Reglan, but does not have the same side effects.
I recommend seeing a motility specialist to get the best treatment options.They are trained in this area

The main symptom she has is bringing up food (not vomiting, just regurgitating) a couple hours after she eats. I found this website helpful: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gastroparesis/
">http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov...s/pubs/gastroparesis/
</a>
It was confirmed by doing a gastic emptying study, which involves eating some food that has a radioactive substance on it, then they use an xray-like machine to watch the food move through the digestive system.

Good luck with your daughter.
