Some exciting news for me!

So I've been sick with a very nasty chest infection for the past few weeks, and today I went for my 2nd check up to see if the meds I'm on are working. The meds seem to be doing the job, and I have to go back for another check up in two weeks. The doc also put me on a new inhaler that I've never used before called Symbicort. Has anyone else used this? - and if so, does it work for you?

As well (and this is the exciting news for me), I talked to my doc about how my long term boyfriend and I want to start trying for a baby this summer/fall, and he's setting up an appt for my bf to get tested to see if he's a carrier or not! As well, when we do decide to start trying, and it turns out I can't get pregnant naturally (because of the mucus plug most of us CF women have), my doc says that I'll be able to have this procedure done where they will insert my bf's semen artificially! I also found out that this procedure is free of cost, and is covered by insurance! We're both keeping our fingers crossed that he is not a carrier, but the fact that we are starting this process has me very excited! I've wanted children for the longest time, and have finally found the right man to be with. He is excited as I am to have children, and we can't wait to get started.

I'll keep everyone posted about the testing, etc. Keep your fingers crossed for us!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

check out this site dedicated to CF and Motherhood chatting.
I am currently 'in training' for pregnancy. By this I mean that I am trying to do everything 'right' from eating - CF care - exercise. My hope is to up my pft's to in the 80 percentiles.
It's great your getting the carrier test done. My husband is fortunately not a carrier. At least not for the mutations taht they can test for so I think it's 99% effective that he isn't one.

Hello
I am NEW on this sight. I am 31 years old and living a very healthy and happy life. I have been married for almost 8 years. my hausband and I have a 4 year old daughter who DOES NOT have CF.
When we were talking about having kids we wanted to get him tested to see if he was a carrier. Sure enough the result was positive. He is a carrier of CF. Well we were a little suprised when I became pregnant. Our little angel is very healthy. She keeps telling me she wants to be a big sister. My answer to her is She is a" SPECIAl gift from god," that I can't have anymore kids. The Docs told us 1 out of 2 chances of having a baby with Cf . wanted to say good luck.
