We got back his results, it was 33. Do I stop now with the whole CF or ask more questions. His reg MD doc says no CF, its negative. But I was looking for more of a test result of like 6, what do normal people run on a sweat test.
I am so confused.

YES YES YES - stomp up and down and cause a scene if you need to but insist on FULL GENETIC testing. My daughters test is just below normal at 38, my son is just over normal at 41 (see my blog for full details)

See this link - someone just asked in the family section asking how many people here have "normal" sweat test numbers but have confirmed genetic testing - this is just a fraction of the people .... there are many more who did not respond and/or are not on this site..... your doctor is not fully informed about how many people test below normal

Don't stop here!!! As the others have said, this number does not rule out CF. The sweat test is good for diagnosing, not good for ruling out CF. Definitely request, push, scream, whatever to get genetic work done. If your daughter has symptoms enough to test, you need to make sure you actually can rule it out. There are some other reasons for an elevated sweat score, if you rule out CF you'll have to check into those. Hang in there -- I know its frustrating! I don't know why doctor's don't know that the sweat test has false negatives. Sounds like an article in the making for a pediatrics journal. Anyone game?
