Spot on Lung...psuednomas question?

Hello,

My one year old w/cf has had a spot on her lungs ever since she cultured the psued. bug this past April. Her last 3 throat cultures showed no psued. But the x ray showed the spot was still there just not as inflammed~ very faint. I just got word that her culture done last week had grown "rare" psued. So we are treating it again with Cipro and Tobi.

My question is... does everyone that cultures psued. have a spot on their lung? OR does this mean it has colonized there and what excatly does colonize psued. mean compared to just growing it? How do we know if it has colonized?? Will psued. ever go away completely? Please help i am so worried about this spot on her lung. She is not coughing or sick at all?? Is this normal not to be sick and have psued.? I also read on a post about testing for levels of Tobi during treatments. In the past we have done full dose of Tobi and have never tested her levels? Should i push testing?? I am sorry i am rambling but just so concerned about that spot damaging her lungs. She is so young!

Thank you for any advise.

Testing is done when they are using IV Tobramycin, not the inhaled Tobi. They test the blood to see if the drug level is too high or too low.

Did they say anything about the spot being "atelectasis"? It could be a build-up of mucous due to the pseudomonas infection. You might want to focus on that area when you do CPT.
