SSI...back to work/moving out

I've got a question/dilemma that hopefully somebody here can help me with. Here goes. I was finally approved for SSI and medicare in January after being denied boooo..so they sent me retro checks in January to make up for the 15 months that I didn't get paid. They sent me a letter saying that they were going to stop payment right after I got the checks (which they did) because I was living at home with my parents and didn't have any expenses, no problem.
I lived out for 3 years then had to move home after a tune up..so now after 10 months home I'm ready to move out and be put on payroll at my job. Here's the problem; I went to the SS office today and told the lady what was going on. She tells me that I'd get like $47 dollars to help suppliment me...are you kidding me??? So this place I may move is say like $600 a month, I'll work about 30 hours a week at $10/hour then pay my car payment, phone and cable and I'll get a cool $47..So I ask her what am I supposed to do when I'm in the hospital for 3 months can't pay my rent and she says "i don't know" with such an attitude. I'm so confused because when I was living at an apartment and working they gave my like $552 per month via retro pay...I don't understand and I'm very sad about this. I am still getting my Medicare check each month which helps a little bit.
I've got to move out. I'm in a band, all of my friends live 45 minutes from here, work is 30 minutes away..I need some advice!
Thanks guys,
Emily
I have ADD sorry for the crazy typing

Emily, if you do end up in the hospital and you aren't working/getting paid, your SSI will increase for that time. Then when you start working again, it will decrease. Not sure if that makes you feel any better or makes it any clearer for you.
