Steam Mop

I know we discussed this in depth last year... I bought a shark, which I loved, until it died a slow and painful death last weekend. It lasted almost a year. I was amazed at how much dirt it picked up. Unlike my swiffer wet jet no residue or streaks on my laminate floors.

So now I'm looking at a bissell steam mop. They even have minty distilled water that can be used with it for added scent. I've also seen online Haan, eureka envirosteamer, lysol (cheap, cheap) and a few others.

I don't want to spend too much money -- meaning more than $100. The shark cost me $79.

Do you feel a year was worth it? Did it really get a work out & maybe would hold up longer or do you just feel its not built to last long.

I am unhappy that it broke within a year. Wasn't as if we abused it. I used it every week or two and it worked great. A couple weeks ago it stopped pumping steam. Got it two work again and this past weekend it pretty much blew up -- stream shot out of the top and bottom.

In this case I feel for $79 it should've lasted longer and not been disposable. I used to buy electric brooms to vacuum the kitchen and bathroom and I'd go thru one of those once a year but those never cost me more than $20-30. Don't know why I'm so frugal about this 'cuz in the big picture $79 spread over a year isn't that costly, but still bugs me. I guess I won't be buying a shark again.
