hi all,any one taking steroids,what do they do and how do they benefit cf'ers,what form do they come in and r there any side effects ? cf er

OMG r there side effects..i was on prednizone, for my IGE level...and i was on a high dosage! horrible side effects but im sure it doesnt happen to everyone but w me i got every side effect in the book...lost my hair a bit, got diabetes, ate a lot more and gained ALOT of weight, puffy face, heat flashes, mood swings...felt like i was going through menopause haha...everything..but usually people only get the mood swings not everything else and it was a HUGH dosage
good luck...i only know of prednizone, and honestly i would go iv anyday over prednizone again (althought it did work)

I am on steroids, 10mg every other day. I have been on far higher doses than that and have been on them for a couple of years now. They affect my blood sugars (i have CF related diabetes), and also eventually will make you look slightly puffy looking! I wouldn't be without them though, they make a massive difference to my breathing and therefore i have far more energy.
