Successful Bronch- no mucus...

Aidan had his second bronch today. He cultured MRSA for the first time with a sputum culture and the docs wanted a pure sample before treating it.

He did great! There was NO extra mucus in sight! The doc even had a hard time finding anything to suck up. He said there was no inflammation, no bronchitis, no thick secretions. He used the word 'pristine' and you would not even know he had CF by the bronch.

I was so excited b/c Aidan had a bronch last year when he was actively sick that was not so good. There was alot of mucus last time and he needed 4 vials of Pulmozyne put right into his lungs. When his sinus infections are controlled, his lungs seem to stay free of all the extra mucus...Just thought I'd share good new..Now of course we wait for the cultures.

Awesome news, Megan! I'm so glad it went well and that the MRSA is wreaking havoc in there. Alyssa had a similarly pristine bronch last year -- let's hope we can keep them clear for as long as possible!!!
