support groups

i am in need of going to a support group. and believe it or not ive been using google for the past hour to find any help to locate one localy where i live. well for reasons unknown to me i cant find the direct website to the hospital closest to me, so i can see what they have there. when i type the request right into google for the support groups i get adds and basicly nothing to redirect me. now i feel like i need a support group for just trying to find a support group!!! uggghhhh.... anyone have any suggestions?

I know it's a Saturday so you will have to wait until Monday for this one. Your CF clinics social worker. IF there is one near you she would be your best bet. Good luck in finding what you need. I always thought it would be a handy thing to have but never found one myself. Your other option is the local CF Foundation. Not that they'd have a support group but getting involved with them gets you out there to potentially meet other parents with CF kids, building a friendship over a common goal leads to hidden treasures and support you never though would be found. It's not a sure thing but a possibility. I myself never found the time to keep involved with our chapter w/ two CF kids and so never made the deeper ties that I am sure would have flourished had I been able to keep up with it.

Our clinic has a CF Family advisory council that has encouraged parent meetups. We see each other once a month on a Friday evening. It has been great for support and finding out information. If your clinic doesn't have one for your area, I encourage you to start one. As the person above said, you CF social worker should be able to put you in contact with other families. Good luck!

Usually there are ones thru your clinic or CF center. Or contact your CFF rep and see if they can put you in contact with a parent who'd be willing to speak with you, meet with you.
