<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0"> Would a sweat test of 37 be considered borderline? It was done at a small town hospital and not a reputable CF center. Would you suggest it be redone? Thanks.rhyanen

Hi,Under 40 is considered a negative result....40-60 is considered borderline...anything over 60 is considered positive for CF....This person who was tested....what kind of symptoms is he/she having? If there are many symptoms of CF...I would suggest retesting at a CF center. What was the doc's reasoning for testing for CF? Is it in the family already? Hard to answer your question without any specifics....sorry...Dea

Hi Dea,Thanks for the reply. My son is 3 and was diagnosed with Celiac disease last year due to chronic diarrhea and stetorrhea. That was during the time that he had the sweat test. Now he is having frequent upper respiratory infections on top of fevers weekly for the past month or two. He has also been extremely tired. He had a dose of antibiotics for the resp infection, but it didn't seem to help. He still has alot of thick mucous. He spit up some nasty green sputum this morning. I am trying not to be paranoid, but I am considering having him retested at the CF center in our town. What would you suggest?rhyanen

I would have him re-tested if those are his symptoms. I hope it's not CF but it could be. Also some of the rarer cases have negative sweat tests but positive DNA. or they are diagnosed on symptoms alone. TRY to get to a CF center!Andrea

Hi ,Thanks for a little more info.....unfortunately....these are some common symptoms of CF....but does not mean it is. I would have him retested....but go to a CF center! I pray for you that it is not CF...but if it is ...it will be OK. I am a 30 yr old with CF and also have a 23 year old brother with it. Let us know when you get new test results back! Good Luck ....take care!Dea
