I am concerned about a family member that occasionally shows symptoms of cf. Is excessive sweating a symptom? I know that salty sweat is a symptom. I dont know if hers is salty...I just know that she sweats more than any child I have seen. Thanks

If you kiss or lick her forehead, and your mouth comes away tasting like salt, then I would be concerned. I myself don't sweat a huge amount unless it is really hot out. And of course when I do sweat, my skins burns from the salt. Your best bet is to taste her forehead (as silly as that sounds). My doc years ago used to call it the kiss of death because his lips burned like crazy when he did.

I always had been told that my sweating minimally was a bad things
until I got a CF diagnosis with a high sweat test and now they say
it's a great thing as long as I make sure i don't over heat :)

Lots of sweat is a sign of a body that is efficient at cooling itself. The most vigorous sweater I ever met was a Pro cyclist who would sweat buckets as soon as he started exercising.

My two-year-old with cf sweats excessively. It looks like he just got out of the pool after being outside for a short while. My five-year-old with cf does not sweat much at all outside. We live in Texas and it is hot! I don't know if excessive sweating is a symptom of cf, but cfers can become dehyrated easily. Both of my kids will sweat while they are sleeping if their room is too warm.

Same as Allie's Ry, I sweat more than I feel is normal... but I don't know if it's caused by the CF (for whatever reason), or just more awesome luck for me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
