Swine Flu vaccine becoming available

I think I will probably get it if my doctor recommends it. A few side effects are worth not dying from swine flu, you never know how fast it could start spreading once flu season rolls around, not to mention I will be living in a dorm with close contact with at least 20 other people. The way I see it, SO many of the medications we take have side effects and risk of complications, yet we still take them to PREVENT sickness. I see this as the same scenario.

I've always gotten the flu vax in the past. If it's recommended by my cf doc I will get it this year as well. Will there be two versions of the flu vax this year? Will they be able to be admin'ed on same visit I wonder? I hate to go to a medical facility twice. I only skipped the flu vax once in my life and I got the flu that year. It turned into pneumonia within a matter of days. I lost 15 percent lung function which I've never fully regained. For me flu vax each yr is a must.

I think I will wait and see what my CF doc says about the H1N1 flu vaccine. I always get the regular flu shot and have had no problems with it. The most difficult part is trying to convince my husband to get it! lol

Just had an appointment and were told the swine flu vaccine will most likely be included in the regular flu jab and to get it as early as possible. Usually we wait until november to get us thru the flu season, but apparently they may suggest a second flu shot in January just in case it's a tough flu season.

Where we go to clinic they've been dealing with H1NI all summer long, so they're assuming it's going to continue on into the flu season.
