Thanks for the info, Liza. Well, if it's mixed in the regular flu shot, that made up my mind for sure. I'm getting it.

So, just to worry you more I read in the paper here today that the H1N1 has apparently spead to turkeys somewhere (sorry, dont have the paper right next to me) and there is a concern that it might merge with the bird flu which is called the H5N1 or something.

Anyhow, my vote would have been undecided, but it would be S choice anyhow (I might have to over rule him because he doesn tlike needles). Having said that, I think there is a few concerns...

Well, if it mutates with the bird flu they would have to create another vaccine presumably. Apparently there is concern also becausu the UK have made Tamiflu available to anyone who requests it, which might lead to resistance (correct me if that info is incorrect UK, I'm going off what was written in the paper).

Anyhow, I think it woud be wise for S to have the vaccine

Here is a recent article about swine flu. US News & World Report; Swine Flu. There's an update on progress on the vaccine... and toward the end it also mentions the Chilean report that h1n1 has been found in turkeys.

I don't like the idea of Tamiflu being made available indiscriminately to anyone asking for it, if this is true! It has been a very effective medication in reducing the severity of the illness and in the interests of keeping it that way, it needs to be used appropriately. Had Tamiflu not been available from the start of the outbreak of h1n1, the statistics & overall impact of this pandemic would be much worse to date, I think. We are fortunate to have a medication that works as well as it does for it but that won't continue if it's not used as it should be.

eta: lost the link when I posted this one, but another article stated that the vaccine will be available as either a nasal spray or an injection, and will be thimerosal(sp)/mercury-free.
