Hey,

It's Christian, 23 with Cepacia too. I wanted to know more about you and any tips. I got the exercise part. I'm starting a body pump class tonight! As I said, I need a major attitude adjustment. In the past 4 years or so, I think the cepacia has taken its toll, and is making me feel tired all the time, so I've gotten lazy.
Are there any supplements, nutritional, diet stuff that has worked well for you? (for energy, building immunity, ect..) Any other tips for helping with my energy problem? i hope you are feeling well. Your response is greatly appreciated.

This may sound rather strange, positive thought is very important. If you keep thinking your getting sicker, and keep that mind set, you will end up in trouble. When you are feeling sick, think that your getting better and if you say it enough, it will help. Negative thought (I have cepacia and am done) is a killer in its own right. This fits in with your own statement that you "need an attitude adjustment". I would like to hear from other CF's on the power of positive thought.

Never found most alternative treatments to be of any use (tried many other "treatments"). I eat mostlly veggies with some dairy (fish off and on) for the past 35 years. I have no idea if this helped.

OK Texas,

I know you're right. I believe in the power of positive thinking too. Here's a brief synopsis of my history. I was born to addict, dealer parents. My mother was a prostitute, and both parents were in and out of prison. At 4 I was under state custody and at 6 was adopted by relatives. This was the best possible scenario for me, though I didn't recieve much love from my adopted parents. At 10 I was sexually molested on and off for 2 yrs, by a friend of my parents. I have alot of problems b/c of all these things. Depression, Trust, ect..
Fortunately I met and married a wonderful man, from a large, loving family. I have been away from some people that abused me for a long time now, and in therapy for 3 yrs. I have progressed very much, especially due to the constant love I receive from my new family. I think b/c I was in emotional survival mode for so long, I stopped doing extra things to care for myself.
But I did survive, and there is always work to do. Now you see why it is hard for me to think positively sometimes. I work very hard to live in the present.
When I say I need an attitude adjustment, what I mean is, I need to realize I don't need to be in survival mode anymore, and I need to get out and not be afraid to live.

Kiel!

That quote...'I've been digging through since birth'. That's exactly how I've felt in my life!
Where is that quote from?

Christian, best of luck and certainly I had a much easier childhood.

Try and exercise, it does matter and positive thought has helped in my opinion, even when your down and times are tough.

If you even get to the point of needing a TX, do not rule that option out of question.

Motivation when your sick and down is tough, yet giving into a malaise decreases exercise and allows the disease to progress at a faster rate.

When in doubt, get up and move.

Thanks dude,

Best to you too. Hearing from people like you keeps me going.
I'm working on that positive thinking!
And I'll work up to maybe a kayak trip!
Take care,
