That's Not Good Enough

I called John's Hopkins 2 months ago to schedule an appointment for our daughter. I received a letter in the mail this past Saturday stating they had to cancel that appointment and reschedule it for two weeks later. I know it's only two weeks, but we have been anticipating this appointment for months now & we have other children we have had to make arrangements for as well as my husband having to schedule with work.

I am frustrated and angry. When I called to tell them that wasn't good enough, I was told that it was the scheduling departments fault because they did not have the doctors schedule on their calendar when they made the appointment with me. The doctor we are seeing will be on vacation during that time...

Does anyone else have luck like myself? I sure feel as if we are the only ones that things like this happen to. What am I to learn from all of this?

I asked that and I was told there was no one else I could see. I thought it was a bit odd that there was no one else to see. I even asked to see another specialist; ENT or GI, they weren't really helpful with that, they were going to give me the # and have me call myself, but reassured me that if I wanted to see the Pulm, I would have to come on the rescheduled date.

I was also very detailed with all of my daughters symptoms and set backs...didn't seem to help. I guess patience is virtue.

I am so sorry Julie. I am not familiar with JH, but they better be worth the wait.

Hi--Is your daughter a new patient? We are going to JH for the first time this Wednesday. My understanding is that all new patients see the CF clinic director--Dr. Mogayzel (sp?) and that they only do new patient appts. on Wednesdays. If this is not your situation..............then I agree that it isn't good enough..............

auntcob,
She is a new patient. We're scheduled with Dr. Zeitlin. I think they may be performing a sweat test on her. She's has had one borderline & another normal test. Yet, she has a history of bowel issues and pneumonia. We don't have a definite dx yet, so we're hoping JH can help us find answers, even if it is not CF.
