Hi Liz

I have been thinking of you and wanting to help you somehow. I know you mentioned that you wanted the VESt and so I called for you today inquiring how you can obtain one living in Canada. Well you can call and ask for one. Explain your story and I am sure they will provide one for you. Ask to speak to Teresa at the vest company at

1-800-426-4224

She will set you up with the folks in Canada so you can receive the vest.

I hope this makes you smile.

Wow, that is exciting news. I've always wondered why it's such problem for some people in Canada to get the vest and others -- person on healthboards with two young children, who had no difficulty at all.

Risa, just wondering for Liz's info - did the vest company say they would send it to her for free? How would it get paid for?

Just curious.

Risa that is so nice of you! (((((HUGS))))) I'm just as curious as Kelly about whether its free or not? When I call this woman, do I just explain what my situation is, etc?

when I spoke with Teresa she said to call her and she would hook you up with the folks in Canada to help you. I do not think it would cost you any money. They have programs in the USA for patients who cannot afford a vest. I am sure it is for free. You just have to prove you have cf blah blah. Just call and find out for yourself and make it clear you have no money. That is what i said to this women that there is a gal in Canada who does not have the money for one nor does she have insurance. she said to call her. So let us know what happens. I hope this made your day

Teresa also mentioned that she has helped others with a vest in Canada who could not afford one. I believe they are starting a program in Canada so that is why they can help. From what I know they have told me over the years that nobody with cf will go without a vest. It is an excellent company.

She did say that you can ask for anyone at the customer service. I specifically asked her for her name as that is how I deal with folks on the phone so I am assuming that you can write to the company at their site http://thevest.com and see what happens. I would call and ask for her and tell her you spoke to me.

You can call them if it is local for you and if not then perhaps they can call you back once you give them your number. If their eight hundred is free in the usa wouldn't it be free in Canada?

edited to add: this is from their site

I remember them telling me that they have a special program for patients that cannot afford one.

For patients who have insurance, they will receive a vest within two weeks or sooner and they work with the patients insurance until they get paid. I got my vest and they did not get reinbursed for one year. They told me not to worry if my insurance would not cover it. They are truly commited. Do not worry Liz ok
