Hi,
I'm not posting as much as I like because school is really kicking my butt. Add managing Josh's CF in and I feel like I'm drowing. I think because the daignosis is still new and its overwhelming. He is probably as sick as he usually was but now there is another whole group of people to consult with, the CF team, and how we treat each episode changes some.

So as we have his 2nd clinic visit this coming Wednesday, I took him in on Wed. for labwork and dropped off the poop sample. He is 12 so I don't usually look at his poop. It looked yellow orange and a little wet. So I got a little paniced ( easy for me to do because I still want to be in denial, the river in Egypt).

So what exactly is the poop test for? If it is positive do you go to enzymes?
Oh yea, I forgot.....calm down and breathe.

In testing 'pooh samples', the doctors are looking for vitamin levels and fat content, this is how they establish how well the pancreas is working.

When the do the poop test they can determine if the right amount of enzymes are being used, and they can adjust them much better according to the test results. I remember i had mine done when i was about 10 or so... it sucked especially since i lived 3 hours away from my doctors and there was this can... and well... not that much fun.. it was for a week and .. it just really sucked.. i couldn't eat without measuring everything that i ate and documenting it and everything... they found that i digested 50% of the fat or something like that... and my enzymes were adjusted to the results.. i'm not sure what they were at before but basically they were the cotazyme ecs 20's 4 with meals and 3 with snacks.... now i do 4 and 4 cause i was finding i was having increased stomach problems and everything is okay at the moment.. not great.. but not bad
