Mark and I have been blessed yet again by the generosity of someone/a family from this website. It's been a tough year for us financially, no secret there. We went from a pretty ok financial standpoint, even considering we were living off just one income and putting him through full time college; to having a tough time paying basic necessity bills as along came the pregnancy and babies we so desperately wanted and I nearly ate us out of house and home (Mark's already managed to do that with his eating habbits <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">) plus buying necessities and supplies for baby x3.

Along the way, we have recieved encouraging notes in the mail, emails, cards, gifts for the babies, gifts for us, some money to buy diapers and baby necessities, prayers, phone calls.... from members of this website. You name it, this site has stepped up to the plate to help us out! We are so grateful for the generosity.

Mark and I weren't going to do anything for Christmas this year as far as gifts go. The babies are young and we thought that next christmas would be the one we'd spend money to buy gifts for them, not to mention it's just not an option for us at this point this year. Bills or gifts.... the bills are getting paid and we are more than happy and overjoyed to simply enjoy the blessings that were given to us this year, Tristan, Cassandra and Ryland.

However, a family from this website who prefers to remain unnamed, has "adopted" us and sent us a christmas package to open this year. Apparently, they do this every year, get together at thanksgiving with their extended family and as their Thanksgiving tradition, they GIVE to another family and spend the afternoon wrapping gifts they purchased for the family. I feel truely blessed to know people who give so freely of themselves. Regardless of the fact that they choose us this Christmas, I feel blessed to know them!

I posted this, because when I read other's messages about things like this, like when Lynda posted about the McDonalds thing wehre someone paid for her order, it reminds me to do things for others. Many of us aren't in a place to adopt another family for a holiday. But I know that the little things count:

letting someone go ahead of you in line at the store, giving a dollar or some change to the person in front of you who's short a little for their purchase, allowing someone to merge in front of you on the road, helping an older person in a cart reach something on the top shelf, taking the shopping cart back inside/to the corrall for another person in the parking lot, remembering to thank with a note or some cookies (my personal favorite are the cookies) the garbage man (you might be surprised to find your cans up by your house next time and NO charges for extra garbage-I know I was!!!!!), the mail man, and others who are "just doing their jobs" but don't get a lot of thanks and recognition for their customers from it.

I hope we can all remember to remember other's as this holiday season approaches.

Thank you, you know who you are!

Julie,
What a beautiful story. I received an email today, with a similar message, only I don't think it was a true story. The email said we are all Santa's Elves and how we should all do something nice for someone this holiday season.
Thank you for sharing and taking the time to recognize this family/person.

To Santa's Elves:
You and your family are truly wonderful people. It is nice that people still rememember what Xmas is about, and are willing to show it. I believe that this is truly a gift from your heart, and all the more so because you don't want to take any credit for it, by being known.
