this week is the CF convention

UGH!

This is the third CF convention week in a row that we have had CF issues and had to deal with a light staff at the CF center.

2 years ago when my daughter was just an infant and newly diagnosed, we had to deal with her first nebulizer treatments on the week that everyone was away. The fill in CF nurse told us to soak the nebs in vinegar, even though it clearly says in the CFF germs booklet that this is not sufficient.

Last year during this week, we were dealing with the celiac's testing we had done and I spoke with three fill in nurses and got three different answers about her results (she can't have it, she might have it, she has it!).

Now this week, Alyssa is scheduled for g-tube placement and she is coughing and I can't get a reliable CF nurse to talk to our doctor (who thankfully is the one sticking around this year) and tell me if we should start abx.

Does your center practically shut down during this week too? I love that they are sharing knowledge and learning a great deal, but goodness, next year I'm going to hole up the week of this conference.

This year will be a bit rough for our clinic. We had a doctor that was with our clinic who originally came from the Residents Program at the hospital. She was great. Knew her stuff, loved the patients & vice versa & covered so the "regular" doctors could go to the conference with no worries.

I dont know off hand if our Nurse is going this year. I know she likes to stay around for the patients who need something. We also have another doctor who covers, but is not from the clinic itself who is good.

I am assuming he will be covering, but not 100% sure. I think I will find out.

I always suffer through whether it be a holiday or conference so I have yet to "worry" about it.

At least its her doctor that is around this year.....now if you can just get a message through!

I did get the other CF doctor to do a bronch tomorrow before he leaves. I lucked out with that and practically had to beg! But it worked. Best of luck
