Thomas Randall Snider - Remembrance

On August 19, 2005, Randy Snider lost his battle with Cystic Fibrosis at the young age of 15. He was a brave soul. He battled everyday just to live and through the pain, he made us all smile. He gave us all a purpose. We love and miss him very much.

A website was created in his memory to celebrate his life and bring awareness to CF. The theme is based on his most favorite video game, Halo. He was a huge fan and played all the time. It offered an escape from daily struggles of CF. As it turns out, the word "halo" is actually Greek/Latin for "salt". Salt of course plays a key role in cystic fibrosis. As loosely depicted on website, CF genes creates a defective protein that prevents the proper flow of salt and fluid in and out of cells. So in essence, CF is sort of a war on salt or "Halo" war. You may also hear somber music called, "Remembrance" and it is from the game, Halo.

Randy bravely battled Cystic Fibrosis the same way he battled Halo. He was the "Master Chief" of the game and won all the battles but he eventually lost his battle with CF...and there was no replay. So in his honor, we give great tribute to a fine young man who loved life and loved the game.

Please take a moment on this special day to remember Randy. Rest well angel. We love you and miss you. We will continue fighting this battle in your honor and the honor all CF angels.

I'm tearing up as I look through the pictures. The website is fantastic! Thank you for sharing with us. Randy will be in my thoughts today through this especially difficult time. <3

My boyfriend, Justin has been playing Halo for a long time and he's 24 right now. We are in the process of creating a non-profit organization called Game On CF He's using the online gaming community to help raise funds for CF research. I believe they are currently in the process of creating a Halo tournament. There is more info about our mission statement on the Engaged Gaming forum he has created at www.engagedgaming.org I'm sure Randy would have loved this. His story hits so close to home for me. I'm sure I will continue to remember him as we move forward with Game On CF

Much Love

Amber, thanks so much for your thoughts. God bless you. Randy is my nephew and I also have CF but it's not about me. It's more about younger folks like yourself. I've pretty much lived my life but I want to see you live a long life as well. Thanks for kudos on the site. I created it. It's what I do. Anyway, I wanted it to be a memorial for Randy and a site that might help raise awareness. The CF Foundations gave it high marks and I do hope that though SEO that I can push his site forward to help us all. Justin's site looks really nice. I like the colors and layout. Justin is a hero. Please tell him that. He is your angel. Randy would have been thrilled to be a part of the gaming. I do hope you raise money and I will post your site to mine. Every little bit helps. You've been through so much at such a young age. Please know that you are an inspiration to me. Hang in there and let me know how the gaming is going. If I can help, I will. - Randford (49 DF508 - P140S, CF-Osteo)

BeautifulSoul, I will add www.engagedgaming.org to www.randysnider.com today, hopefully.
I think Justin is doing a very noble thing and I do hope it helps you as well as other CF patients, including me. I couldn't save Randy but maybe all of our efforts will bring more awareness and contributions to help us all.
I'll let you know when it's live.

Randford- thank you for all of your caring and kindness. God Bless YOU.

Jean, thanks. Your kind words really mean a lot. My only goal is to use organic search engine optimization techniques to enhance the rank of www.randysnider.com, not only pay tribute to Randy but to raise awareness of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other organizations. CFF has given approval and I'm very grateful. In addition, I’m very careful how I approach the site offering. It will never be used for paid advertising, ever. It's there to raise awareness and since I also have CF, it’s my way of giving back. More awareness means more funding for CFF.org as well as other relevant organizations.

There are so any wonderful ways now to get the word out about CF, with YouTube, social media, etc. It would be great for everyone to utilize all these new tools. We have a chance like never before to make a difference. I was not able to save Randy. But maybe with the site, the new media and SEO, we can make a big difference by saving all those young souls with CF. - Randford
