My daughter finally had returned to baseline; feels great for 3 weeks; good energy no cough. She picked up the virus her friends have at school; arg only have one week left. She's got the throat tickle cough; like the other kids.
Any tips to avoid this from progressing(like it usually does) to her chest . We rested today; she drank tons; her diet I have adjusted so she's eating things like kale and seaweed(seriously). Decreased sugar.
Really what else can we do to avoid the steroids and anti's that usually come along with this?

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. If I feel like I'm coming down with something I start some prednisone immediately to keep the airways open, tons and tons of water, no sugar, absolutely no dairy, light 2x/day exercise, as much sleep as I can get, nebbies every 3-4 hours even during the night. I also take expectorants and more ibuprofin (inflammation). And of course, either my moms chicken soup or mine (seriously). I also do my best to be kind to my immune system and stay away from a lot of people, and of course, reduce stress as much as possible. This works about 70% of the time and it sickness never gets settled in. The other 20% I get mildly ill and kick it w/o additional meds, the final 10% I need antibiotic help.

What not to like about kale and seaweed? Personally, I like swiss chard better than kale, but a good seaweed salad is hard to beat!

When we know something is coming on, I up their vitamin C and zinc. I often add olive leaf extract and colloidal silver too. I am looking at a product called ON GUARD, that is an essential oil sold by Do Terra. You rub it on your feet, spray it in the air.... and I have heard it is awesome at keeping sickness away??????

blessings,
missa

Think we got through this one, knock wood. Things I did that may or may not have helped were; keeping her out of school for one day to rest. Then the weekend; she slept in. I had her do salt water gargles for the sore throat. I gave her some ibuprofen. Really working in a healthy diet. Minimal sugar...except for honey.. She drank hot tea. I even bought some Manuka honey (which is very expensive) and she loves it dipped with green apples.

Course this along with the usual nebs and VEST etc. I am really trying to switch up the diet to a healthy fats, antiinflammatory, lower sugar type diet. Course we are doing thing moderately; my daughter loves pretzels and salty chips but I try to substitute a few servings a day with salty kale chips or seaweed snacks instead. I am making sweet potato fries instead of packaged rice....Little things.

We'll see if these changes keep her in healthy mode. So far she likes them all and her cough has been at a minimum(course could be a coincidence)....
