My husband did DS treatments tonight & did NOT change the neb cups....how bad is that? And will it affect DS? Usually we do put them in different cups...this was a mistake.

It's not bad. Nothing to stress about. I mix Tobi w/ Albuterol when I do my nebs and I have never had a problem. I've done them separate and together (both way of doing the neb was okayed by my CF Doc, no preference, it was up to me), to see if there was a difference in how it made me feel and there was no difference. Mixing doesnt cause a problem or chemistry change...so, dont stress. It will be fine either way.

I always use the same cup for my TOBI, never had any issues and have never been told any different by doctors or RTs or anyone.

I use different neb cups for DS. The tobi can be really sticky and if it doesn't get cleaned out right away it'll plug up the neb cup. Probably doesn't make a difference, but it's what we've always done -- different neb cups for albuterol/atrovent, tobi and pulmozyme. L

My son just started TObi and pulmozyme. I asked if we could do TObi and albuteral together at the same time. She said that was fine or we could do it separate - then I do Pulmozyme in a seperate cup.

I believe there's a certain order to the meds -- bronchiodialators to open things up, get things moving up and out. Pulmozyme to thin the mucus. With Tobi, you want to make sure that it stays in the lungs for awhile, so we always do it after CPT and albuterol/atrovent. We do pulmozyme during a separate treatment -- the last one of the evening before bed.
