TOBI Question

For the past few days everytime we do TOBI treatment Ashton rubs at his left ear?? He dosent do it while we are doing the Albuterol or the Pulmozyme but as soon as i sart the TOBI he rubs at it.. he dosent do it the whole treatment during the TOBI but a little he does and if i remeber right ir ead somewhere that it can cause ringing in the ears. is this something that needs to be brought to the doctors attention???

Ringing ears is a warning sign for a bad (but RARE) side effect of Tobi. I'd call the Dr. Probably nothing, but confirmation may be just a phone-call away.

I was going to post the same as above about the ringing in the ears. I would definitely call the doc and get it checked out.

Thanks everyone i just emailed the nurse at the clinic so we will see what she says...does anyone know what they would do for treatment if inhaled TOBI is causing his ears to ring????

Reduce dosage probably. What was explained to me recently is that Ototoxicity (the ear thing) is related to the residual amount of the drug in the system; if the dose is too high it is not going to clear enough before the next dose and it kinda builds up too much. FYI: my son is 3 and when he's on Tobi he is prescribed 1/2 vial twice a day.

Will this happen every time he needs TOBI or hve people noticed it going away!! if they do have to stop the TOBI all together what will they put him on... hes only got slight cough and its dry no other symptoms..

Well she just told me to keep an eye on it for now and let her know what he does.. so we will see.. i hate it that its going into the weekend and i guess im just supposed to watch it until monday..
