What kind of compressor do ya'll use. Reece has an inspiration.....it takes 30~40 min. as well, BUT we have had it since 2002 (when he was born) I have noticed that I have to replace the filter every month lately too.

I just went to the Pari website....so I got my answer I think...it said you could use Xeopenox in it. So Im guessing albeutrol is fine too.

Now Im assuming you can ONLY use PARI neb cups for this machine OR can you use the disposible Salter kind? Leah

This is what I do and everything I am about to say has been okayed by my doctors...multiple doctors, including my CF clinic...and they all say it is fine. So please dont get on me about how I do things. Here is what I do:

My tobi takes a looooong time. I mix it w/ the albuterol and an extra half of regular saline in there due to the fact it is so hard on my throat. My cup is filled to the max line and it takes me any where from 1 hr to 1 hr 1/2 to complete my Tobi mix completely. My neb machine is only a few months old (requested a new one since my old one was six or more yrs old and tobi mix took 2 hr +). I thought that was the problem. So I got it replaced with the same type, a PulmoAide, but tobi still takes an hour or more. I have no idea why it takes so long for me...it drives me nuts. With just tobi (and half saline) that I tried last night it still took 40-50 mins.

As far as cutting it in half, I do it...not all the time, but have done it and really see nothing wrong with it. I do try to take at least half or 75% of it. I also skip days if Tobi becomes too hard for me to handle (tobi doesnt do me any good if I am coughing/vomitting more than inhaling...that just equals a waste of money). And if I have a major event come up (like my wedding) and dont want to be horse then I will start Tobi a few days or a few weeks late. I have not become resistant to Tobi or Tobramycin (*knock on wood* - dont want to jinx anything) and I've been on it since it came out.

PARI Trek doesn't break down Pulmozyme or TOBI into small enough particles...

PARI will tell you that it's not approved for those meds and your doctor will agree.

Our original compressor was a PARI ProNeb Ultra and tobi took 35-45 minutes with it. I picked up a devillbiss pulmoaide as a spare and it takes about 20-25 minutes. We use the Pari for travelling, but it has always, always taken a significant amount of time. We use the bubbles baby make on DS and I've always wondered if he was able to use the mouthpiece if it'd take less time. Or if I should take his Pari in for repairs. It's about 3 years old.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda taken it in shortly after we started tobi, shortly after we purchased the pari. At the time we assumed that tobi was just supposed to take that long, until last year when DH's cousin gave us their daughter's old pulmoaid (had asthma), for use at the inlaws. Noticed a significant difference in treatment times then, so I bought a new devillbiss online.

BTW, just read there's a new proneb ultra 2 coming down the pipe. Liza aka ratatosk.

I use an Inspiration as well, and TOBI only takes me about 15-20 minutes. That being said I also had mine replaced last February. You should be replacing yours every 2 years.

Pari Proneb is a compressor. Devilbiss makes the pulmoaid. Responics (sp) makes the inspiration.
