I started my month on of TOBI last night and though I always have a VERY hard time breathing the first few rounds I feel really tight today and last night. I don't know if this normal for everyone. I have been using TOBI for 2 years now and it seems every time I start it, the shortness and tightness gets worse. I never rememebr to talk to my DR about it because my month on is never the same month I go to see him.

When I first started it my nurse told me I would feel like I have a cold the first few treatments but it would go away. The shortness and tightness does goes away but these first few times I feel so crappy!!!!

Does anyone else get like this or is this somehting I should be concerned about?

Thanks!!!

I always feel the same symptoms you described the entire time I'm using TOBI.

Ditto on all your symptoms Amy.

In fact, my symptoms got worse with every round. I so dreaded TOBI time because I always felt so sick the whole time, coughing non stop. It caused so much irritation and inflammation I couldn't stand it anymore. It got to the point, that a year ago I said enough, I can't tolerate it anymore.

So my doc switched me to Coly on 28 day cycles instead and I can tolerate it a little better. Less severe symptoms for about 5 days then I seem to adjust for the rest of the cycle.

Hope it calms down for you and you feel better.

I had the same problem, to the point that I had to quit using it for a while. Then I started back a couple of years later, but on 2/3rds of a dose to begin with for the first few days, and then I could tolerate a 3/4 dose for only 3 weeks-as long as I did my Advair 250 right before my Tobi, instead of after. Then, I started the GSH and Magnesium supplements, and this time, I could do the whole dose from the start, for 3 weeks before the SOB set in (might have been able to do the whole 28 days, but forgot the Advair twice, and after that, it was a no go, even doing the Advair after).

Do ask your doctor first though! This is just the way that works for me, and not the regularly prescribed way of doing it. There might be reasons why it wouldn't work that way for you, and I wouldn't want you to get messed up because of something I said works for me .

I also do the Colistin, but I just do either Tobi or Colistin (I alternate most of the time) when I am sick/getting sick.

If it is going away after the first few days, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Can you ask your doctor about doing an extra Albuterol treatment and have it help (if you are on Albuterol/Xopenex)?
