hi charlotte ,our physiotherapist recommended a tramp. so we got one of those little ones that you can hold onto ,he isn't interested in that though!!!!! he did go to trampolining for beginers at the local leisure centre and he loved it. the youngest was about five though ( your little one is only 2 isn't she?) we can't have one in the garden 'cos it's on a slope if you get one watch her like a hawk, or get a cage for the perimeter, there were a lot of accidents last year 'cos of their popularity. my son was in hosp for 2 weeks in august and there were new batches of broken arms and legs every 2 or 3 days . yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! janet uk.

Ok, you are going to crack up at this one... Mark LOVES trampolines. We don't have one simply because of the cost but some of our relatives do for their young children and when Mark can't be found in the kitchen eating, he's out there on that darn trampoline

He thinks it's the greatest thing, much more fun that manual chest PT or the vest, and works well to help clear things out and get stuff moving.

I think if you got one (which I'm in favor of for CFers, any cardio is good for them!!!) you could use it as a treat sometimes to encourage them to use it. "if you do X, then you can go jump on the trampoline for 30 minutes" or something like that. But if they show a huge interest in it right away and that interest doesn't fade, then you probably don't need to use that kind of incentive.

Oh, Mark puts his vote in for a trampoline (he's such a kid sometimes, 25 going on 6)

My 2 1/2 year old likes to jump on our trampoline. We do have the cage around ours and I do watch him closely.

We have a trampoline in our backyard. Well, I should say HAD one. The wind picked it up and threw it over the wall and bent some of the pieces.

The kids, including all of the neighbor kids love it! It is great exercise. I know there are dangers that come along with a trampoline, but with proper supervision a trampoline can be lots of fun! My hubby and I enjoy jumping on it every once in a while also!

Our neighbor use to have one until they moved. It is quite the workout. My only problem was I would pee my pants every single time even if I just went to the bathroom. Not a good thing for that!

My younger cousin has a tramp, she got me on it and I coughed up so much gross stuff! You wouldn't think it would be such god excersise but it really gets the heart going! I say go for it!

My first thought was the pee issue. But that is just my problem and I don't have the CF. I really laughed hard when I read that. Made my night. I thought I might be the only one silly enough to admit that! Anyways our family has had one for three years. We have the enclosure around it and all the pads. It was a huge investment but it has really paid off! My only suggestion is to actually wear tennis shoes for the support of the ankles. My daughter Meg (9 w/cf) sprained hers last year while not wearing shoes on the tramp and we are still seeing docs for it. With the shoes in mind, we only let, at the most, three at a time and absolutley no flips! The can do a lot of fun things without doing the flips and this avoids any kind of neck or spinal injury. We also put the sprinkler under the tramp on hot days (of course then you might want to skip the shoes). Overall it's great, and it's fun excercise!

Melissa,

I busted up laughing when I read your post!

I didn't want to bring up the "pee issue" but that is the number one reason I do not get on the trampoline often!

I had a trampoline growing up and it was great! It is the best thing for coughing "stuff" up. It beat chest pt!! Go for it and encourage them to jump on it as often as they can - it is really good!

We had one, and loved it, but when we moved we had to leave it behind. Our new backyard has a pool but no space for a trampoline or even a swing set.

I love the idea of jumping on one but I am afraid my dried out bones would crack in half if I did....

I think it is great exercise though for anyone whos doesn't have osteoporosis.

My ankles hurt just thinking about it.
