Traveling with pulmozyme

Hi everyone.
We are going on vacation next month - this will be the first time since we started Pulmozyme. How do you guys transport it? We are concerned about how we will keep it refrigerated while going to the airport and flying, getting rental car and finally getting to our hotel to put it in the refrigerator....any suggestions?

Any ice packs surrounded by tin foil in an insulated cooler (one of those little ones that you see construction workers using for lunch) or a good insulated thermos with ice in it & stick the vials of of pulmozyme into the thermos. Whatever you do....remember not to actually freeze the pulmozyme itself!

Ditto... yah, we just pack it like food you want to keep cold - good hard frozen ice packs in a lunchbox type of cooler -- have never had a problem with airports or usa/candian border crossing. I've heard others talk about ice in a thermos before and it sounds very convenient, but I would be worried it would get too cold - read the box it has the temperature it should remain at and remember too that pulmozyme can get room temperature for 24 hours and still be good to use. (I have verified that with two pharmacies and the manufacturer) so don't panic if you get there and your ice pack isn't so cold anymore.

We've flown to Mexico and Denver with Pulmozyme -- I use the polarpac ice packs I get with our Tobi from the CF Services pharmacy in a small lunch bag cooler. They keep stuff cold for over 24 hours -- last summer the temps in Denver were upper 90s, Mexico last winter was in the mid-80s -- no air conditioning in the taxis. I packed the cooler at 6 in the morning and by the time we reached our destination that afternoon, the icepacks were still frozen.

Prior to that I used the camping ice packs from Target, etc. -- blue ones and even just a short 1-3 hour trip in the car, the ice packs pretty much lost their chill. L

And it's nice to know that pulmozyme can be kept out for 24 hours 'cuz I've caught my Pharmacy leaving it on the counter for me to pick up.

I've always just stuffed it in a mini cooler (like <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.mapleleafpromotions.com/Igloo_Cooler_6_cans.jpg">this one</a>) with an ice pack. It works fine. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
