traveling with the vest

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience traveling with the vest. Do you have any type of insurance for it while traveling? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Call ABI, the company that makes the vest. They overnighted me a box and told me it was OK to check it at the airport. We did this and had no troubles. My guess is that the company would fix anything that happened to the vest since they are the one that recommended traveling this way.

When my daughter got her vest 4 years ago, the nurse that came to explain it to us recommended NOT traveling with it. My daughter goes to her dad's every other weekend and I wanted her to take it with her, but she discouraged us from doing it.Do others travel with it?

I havn't traveled with it yet, but we are planning a trip out of state, and we are going to take it with us. My daugter, 6, uses it twice a day everyday. For us to not take it , it would be like not taking her clothes or other necessities. When your daughter goes to her father, does he do Chest PT?

Grrrrr, okay my irritation is that someone would tell you not to take the vest. First off, what good is life it you can't move around a bit. If you are talking about flying, take it, but get a letter from your doctor and have the Travel agent let the Airline know you will be carrying this device and it CANNOT be shipped. If you are talking about the newest vest :104, its size is to make it moveable. If you have the last version 103, I can tell you, get a luggage cart on wheels and take that sucker along. I flew to Las Vegas six years ago w/the 103, the machine didn't fit overhead, but the flight attendants worked to find me a spot for it. It hurts my heart to see that someone wouldn't go because of the machine. I wouldn't for any reason ship it, if you fly from NY to Cal, and in shipping it gets damaged what do you do when you get to CAl. call for a replacement. Don't take no for an answer.. this equipment is a lifesaving device. 9/11 or not, you deserve to take that machine on board. I am looking at going to Europe in the future and plan to take it. I will come down from my soap box now!Oh if you are traveling by car, there is no problem. I even found businesses will let you plug in outside the buildings for you to do a vest. From MN to Georgia, we stopped at a Restaurant, Two Rest Stops, a Travel Center, a Firestation, these were with the 103, I did my machine right from the car. I even found a place in the Anchorage airport to do my vest.See, it can and should be done. Travel, life is to short.

You know what else... if you're just going on a trip and don't want to take the Vest with you... have someone beat on your back a few times a day while you're gone. Or use a Flutter. Or bring along one of those massager things and place it on your chest. Either way, don't skip the trip based solely on the troubles with physical therapy. I go to school in Boston and still come home a lot on weekends (in CT), and if I used the Vest, I'd leave it at school, but still get beaten on at home.
