Tussin / Guaifenesin

I have been unable to do Pulmozyme HTS Tobi or anything inhaled since January. I am doing Advair and Albuterol though as these are the least likely to cause any irritation that can lead to hemop.
The reason i am not doing these is becaues i had 3 embolizations , 1 in January, 2 in Februray after being on the study drug AZLI ( inhaled Aztreonam).
Now we are not saying the AZLI caused the hemop problems, but since it is an inhaled antibiotic( which can be very irritating to the lungs) we also cant completely rule it out.
Anyway i asked my Dr. since i hadnt been using the regular inhaled meds i always used and i wasnt allowed to do the vest either ( although i started that last week, very gently on the lightest setting) Would Mucinex maybe help to loosen the mucus in my lungs and help out a bit.
He said it couldnt hurt to try so he gave a script for liquid Tussin/ Guaifenesin and it actually does help make the secretions looser. I wanted to just put this out there for anyone who cannot tolerate Pulmozyme or HTS. Maybe it could benefit you as well.
Even if it is only tiny difference , every little bit helps.

Thank you for posting about the Tussin. I havent been able to do pulmozyme or Tobi for the past few months due to insurance issues. I ask my doctor about Mucinex one time and she just flat out told me lets not do any experiments. But lately ive been getting a little sick and I cant tolerate HTS without getting sicker. Now I think I will try something like that. Thanks again

My boys have taken mucinex twice daily for several years. It does help, but it is very expensive.
