Two breastfeeding questions

I had researched Zyrtec and everything seemed to say not to use it while breastfeeding. When I told my allergist that he said that it is a class B pregnancy drug and safe. I am wondering if it is not to be used while breastfeeding because it dries up the milk or something. Has anyone here used it while breastfeeding?

My other question is about my gassy son. I am giving him Milicon drops (which is safe) like crazy, because he is always gassy, even when I'm not. I know some things like cabbage cause me gassiness, or forgetting my enzymes. Anyway, is there a reason he is so gassy. My mom suggested that babies with CF are gassy and know I'm getting freaked out about the whole possibility of him having CF again. Are there other reasons for his gassiness?

I wasn't on zyrtec while preg or bf, but i do know that classes of safety for preg are completely different for bf.
For bf safety refer to Dr. Hale's book-the 'pdr' of bf.
You can also check kellymom who bases their info off of Dr. Hale's suggestions with drugs.
When my lo was about 6 months I took occasional claritin for my fall allergies. i went to a lactation center for help with med suggestions.
Please don't worry about the gassiness!! Most babies are gassy, and the poor moms of a select few are colicky which is more severe, painful gas.
What you eat can definitely affect his bowels, so if a food makes your stomach upset don't eat it bc it can result in baby.
Kellymom also has great tips for gassy babies. Mylicon did nothing for my daughter. Pumping her legs helped push gas out, rubbing her back while she was face down on her tummy, and using this fabric band you heat up and wrap around babies stomach really helped with gas.
If all else fails, remember its a phase that they'll outgrow once their digestive systems are more mature!

Thanks, Christian. Dr. Hale rated it as L2 (safer), so I tried one last night. So far, no effect on Alex.

Where did you find the fabric band to heat up for baby's belly? That sounds like something that might help, because when Alex has gas pains besides belly time I bring him into the warm shower, but boy does he cry when we get back out.
