Two strains of pseudomonas

Isabella's most recent culture showed two strains of pseudomonas. The lab report listed PA twice and then it said 'second strain' next to the second listing.

She cultured PA on her very first clinic visit after being diagnosed at 3 months old and she has cultured it off and on ever since.

Her doctor is having her do 14 days of cipro and 6 months straight of inhaled Colistin ( I'm not sure I spelled that right). In the past she has been on normal TOBI cycle. This will be her first time on the Colistin.

Anyone else ever had two strains of PA? This has me worried because she is only 2.

Thanks!

I had two strains last year, but after a round of doubled antibiotics I only cultured one.

I know I'm older than Isabella, but thought I'd "raise my hand"

I have 3 strains. And my FEV1 is about 95%.

The only real way to tell that you have eliminated a bacteria is through bronch, so keep that in mind if they are trying to rid her of the 2nd strain.

It's not the "end of the world" per say, but it's definitely frustrating. take care.

I cultured two strains in January. I'm not sure if the antibiotics obliterated one or not. My last FEV1 was at 72%.
