Update on Me

Just wanted to give an updated on my collapsed lung from last week. I got a xray on Monday and the very top of my right lung is still down, also fluid was showing up in the bottom. Over the past few days I had been running a fever on and off. My doctor took a look at the chest tube and I had some yellowish drainage coming out and it was blocking the tube. So he decided to pull out my chest tube because with it blocked, it wasnt doing me any good. So I went to the ER for him to do that. I had to wait around for an hour and a half to get another xray to make sure my lung was still up. Thank God it was. So he did a culture on the tip of the chest tube to see if the yellow stuff was infection. I also did a sputum culture. He said that the remaining collapsed lung should resolve itself. Hopefully it will. He went ahead and started me on IVs at home, as a precaution. I am still awaiting both culture results. I know one has grown out Staph but not sure which, my guess would be the sputum culture. I am on Tobramycin, Fortaz, and Vanc. I'm still not able to do much because of staying sleepy. I have to take Benadryl with Vanc because I get Red Man Symdrom with it. I'm still having pain and having to take meds for it, but its getting better each day. I will be doing IVs for 10-14 days, at least. My Sats are back to 93%. They have been up since starting IVs. My fever is also gone, except when I do Vanc, but it goes away when the medicine is finished. I'm still not eating much, maybe one meal a day. Hopefully that will improve soon. At least I havent lost anymore weight. Well, I think that is all for now. Slowly but surely I'm getting better. It's been a really long week. I hope everyone is doing well. I really miss everyone. I'm hope to be back to posting soon .

I'm joining the iv band wagon too! just started this morning! I can't believe you have a chest tube in, they are soooo uncomfortable! I really hope that your lung will resolve itself soon! Keep in touch!

I really hope the meds work for you and that the rest of your lung inflates.

I bet you can't wait to get the tubes out. They sound freaky to me.

~~Hugs~~ to you!!!!

GET BETTER SOON
