update on my admission

I am doing this on my phone...too tired to get the laptop out. I got admitted and had a room yesterday. I did not get a PICC til late today. That was extremely tough! Took over an hour in IR and three tries. I am extremely sore right now, can hardly move the arm without pain. I am hoping this gets better and is simply an effect of the trauma/bruising.

So anywho...maybe a more detailed blog tomorrow, just wanted to let you know how I'm doing. Its been a rough go but I have been able to catch up on sleep, during the day today. Night all!

UPDATE: I am still in lockdown. My IV nurse (while she was doing the dressing change) was concerned about swelling, pain and a weird popping sensation during flushing. She pushed for me to get some tests and it turns out there was a small clot around the PICC, just above where it was inserted into my arm. They had to take it out and put a peripheral in until I can get a new PICC. With any luck that will happen tomorrow (monday). Thankfully she pushed for it, or they would have sent me home. I was literally all packed up and ready to go...more details on my blog. Otherwise, I feel much better, my cough is decreasing and my energy is ok, considering I am in a noisy hospital.

Caitlin, I'm sorry they had such trouble placing your PICC. I really hope that the pain subsides, and that you can get rested, and go home very soon. ((((hugs)))) and to you.

Sorry the picc insert was so awful. When I've had rough inserts, I think it takes me a good 3 days to recover from it. I mean they are cutting tissue and through muscle-its a lot on your poor body. Also mentally, I think can be as hard or harder than the physical. Give yourself a mental break for a few days and just pamper yourself in the little ways that you can...Watch crappy tv if thats what you want, and read silly tabloid magazines or something.

Caitlin, I hope you were able to get some sleep and the pain is not as bad today. It's bad enough to just get a picc but tho have they do three attempts is worse.

Hugs to you and I hope this is a very short stay.
