Hi,

I went to my OB appt yesterday. I first did some bloodwork and then a 1-hr GTT. Then I went to my u/s. They wanted to check the baby's growth because I haven't gained any weight yet. I am still only at 183.5 lbs and I was 184 lbs pre-pregnancy. OB wanted me to see the nutritionist but I told her I didn't want to yet. I have already met with her once and she wasn't very helpful, so I feel like it would've been a waste of my time. I will meet with her next time if I still haven't gained anything. I will really try hard these next couple weeks!

The u/s showed the baby to be at 2 lbs 4 oz, which puts him at the 69th percentile. She also took some 3D pics of the face for us to see - very cool!

They are also estimating me to be past 27 weeks, but I'm so confused because I know they can't change my due date. Normally they base your EDD on your LMP, unless you have IUI then it can change. Because I wasn't inseminated until day 21 of my cycle, they pushed my due date back 1 week. But now they're still calculating it as if they're using my LMP. I'm so confused! I guess I'll have to ask her about it next time because I don't want them changing my due date all around. That's what they did to DW too and she ended up getting induced when she really wasn't late at all.

Then the nurse called me back today and I failed my 1-hr GTT. I will be going in on Monday for a 3-hr GTT. Wish me luck! Did anyone on here fail their 1-hr and then pass the 3-hr? Just hopeful thinking Also, did anyone develop CFRD after having GD during pregnancy? I'm hoping that doesn't mean I'll for sure get CFRD.

UPDATED TO ADD: I got the results from my 3-hr GTT today and it was normal! Hooray!
Fasting = 86
1 hour = 113
2 hour = 113
3 hour = 112
I have a feeling they'll make me do another 1-hour test in another month or so just to make sure, but at least I'm safe for now. I think I might have affected the original 1-hour test because I ate immediately before the test...won't do that again!

Here's the little peanut....

Yay for growing a healthy baby Cute pics!

As for changing your Due date, don't let them! Insist that they use your ovulation date. w/ my son I ovulated on day 22 so the OB just took my word for it and calculated my EDD based on my ovulation date. The average gestational length for a first time mom is 41 weeks and 3 days. So if they bump you up a week and induce you at 41 weeks (if you have a conservative OB) then you aren't even overdue! Since that happened to your DW then you know already. There is no way you are due any earlier than Aug 11. By moving your due date up they are setting you up for more intervention later on.

As for the GTT, good luck w/ the 3 hour. I have heard lots of stories of women failing the 1 hour and passing the 3 hour (not w/ CF though). Did they tell you what your number was and what the normal range is? In the mean time you could always start monitoring your sugars at home if you wanted. I went to the store and bought a meter and some strips w/o a prescription (like 2 years ago). I also talked to my high risk OB about this - if for some reason I were to fail the 1 hour test we agreed that I didn't need to do a 3 hour test, that I could just watch my own sugars at home. I'm more comfortable with that because the GTT is probably not reflective of my own diet at home.

i don't know for sure, but i'm thinking if you failed your first gtt you'll probably fail the second one. my doc just had me do the 3 hour gtt and i failed. but they made me track my sugars for a week and they were fine. hopefully it's just that sugary drink that makes you spike. as for the due date i have no clue can't say anything there. sorry, good luck though!!

I thought it was the opposite of what Caroline describes. That a later ovulation acutally buys you a week extra. Well it did for me at least. Here is my info. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I want to understand my body and the system generally in case we go for #2.

My LMP was Sept. 29 2006. My due date was originally set at July 6 2007 based on my LMP date. At the first ultrasound at 8 weeks they asked if there was any way I was off on my LMP because she measured the fetus and she said it was a 7 wk fetus not an 8 wk fetus (I guess at that early point they don't vary in size?!) I said no but that I don't ovulate until day 21. And she said that was approx. a week later than most women and the due date calculator is based on average data. So she bumped my due date back a week to July 13 2007.

Is this what Caroline was saying am I confused? It seems it bought me a week which I'm sure glad I had because they would have induced at 41 weeks. I ended up having to be induced due to my water breaking with no contractions but at least my body did get to start labor on it's own.
