Dear All,

We live in Romania and the child of a relative (2.5 years old Andrei) has CF. Given the expertise of the forum in this disease I was wondering the following:
- what happens to the vests which do not any-longer fit the children as they grow? What are the parents doing with them?
- would you be aware of and will it be possible to get in touch with parents who used such vests for when their children were aged 2-3?

They might be willing to donate or sell the vests which are not of use to them any longer and by doing so help Andrei (His parents are currently trying to raise funds to purchase a vest. Apparently a new one would cost about EUR 17,000 - they managed to raise about EUR 5500 to date).

I would appreciate any assistance you could provide.

Yours sincerely,

Gelu Tudose

The fabric portion of the vest is valued at around $300 USD. The expense of "the vest" is in the machine which does not need switched out as the patient grows. After a child outgrows the vest it is usually quite gross and sharing them with others in not suggested due to cross contamination. When you buy a vest machine it comes with free new vest jackets anytime a patient needs one.
