Ventolin Tremors

I was just wondering how serious ventolin tremors and tachycardia are. I've recently gotten back on salbutamol and tobra via nebulizer after being on the Tobi Podhailer and Symbicort. During and after the nebulizer, I have tremors in my hands and my heart races at ~105 bpm. I noticed these side effects before if I took too much salbutamol, but I'm on a pretty standard pre-measured dose this time around (2.5ml).

Is this something I should alert my CF team about immediately, or can it wait until my next visit in a month? How serious are the side effects of ventolin, and has/is anybody else experienced them?

I get the exact same thing on albuterol/ventolin/salbutamol, mostly increased anxiety, jittery feeling, I get tremors to, and sometimes faster heartbeat. It's b/c albuterol is a stimulate, it opens up the airways by the same way your natural adrenaline does, ( the fight or flight hormone ) .

You could ask your Dr to prescribe you Xopenex, which the side effects are very minimized, -the down side is most likely your insurance won't pay for it because its more expensive and they won't approve it unless you have cardiac/heart problems.

What I do if I don't feel like having that side effect, I take HALF my dose, instead of 2.5 MG OR 3ML in a tube, take 1.5 ML, it works just the same, you feel it in your airways, but without feeling like a nervous wreck! But you might notice it doesn't last as long, maybe around 2 hrs instead of 4 to keep you open.

I do this always at night now because albutrol has a habit of keeping me wake so my dr said try that and worked nicely!

If you get any really bad side effects, like heart- palpitations, or extreme fast heartbeat , hives, or more shortness of breath after an albutrol, that's definitely not normal, then I would call your dr immediately, but for the most part that's normal side effects -so I would mention it next visit.

Also, your body will adjust, esp if you have not had albutrol for a while, (FART)
