VERY Happy about CF Fundraising

Hi. This is my first year participating in the Great Strides Walk. (My 10 yr old step daughter has CF) I've been raising money via a letter campaign. I mailed letter to family, friends and clients. Also, I've gone to many of our local businesses and left them with the letter. I've mailed/given out about 115 letters. I am soooo HAPPY and can't beleive the response. I've received $2000.00 so far!!! My drive is my step daughter as well as all of you. I found this site in February and have been faithfully reading it ever since. I am hopeful for the CF Foundation to find a cure, new treatments, drugs and care to help all people with CF.

That is great Angie! This year we had a party after the walk to thank all of our donators. I'll never have enough words of gratitude for them, so I hope they know how much their donation and time walking means to us!

When is your walk?

Hi Shelly. The walk is on June 18 in Billings, Mt. I live in a small town with about 2000 pop. I am overwhelmed with the generous donations! Like I said I gave out about 115 letters and have received 31 responses so far. I also put an ad in our local paper for CF Awareness Month. My goal is to raise money along with letting people know what CF is. Many know nothing about it. I also have a few places that will sell the sneakers/roses. I'm curious how that will do. Thanks!

Hi Angie, it's me again. In my hometown where my sister has her salon, about 2500, we did a bake sale and raised $2,000+. I think everyone in that town now knows about CF! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> The paper did an awesome write up about my son and CF and put us on the front page. AND IT WAS FREE! It was so great. We hope we have the same turn out this year!

I'm sure that the fundraising is paying off and that's what is keeping us motivated. Let us know what your final turn out is!

Keep up the great work!!!! Earning $$ while spreading awareness is like getting 2 jobs done at one time!

I second the idea of getting newspapers involved-one good way to do it is to take in your own article, that way you get to decide just what is said about CF (rather than risking mis-information). Also, we found that putting an insert (full page flyer) in the paper worked really well...my husband got a local print shop to print 3,000 inserts for free and then he got sponsors to pay $25 to have their logo listed on the bottom of our insert which ended up more than covering the cost that the newspaper charges to have the inserts inserted into the paper. Our insert was mainly an advertisement for a fundraiser we were doing but it also had CF info on it and some pictures of CF kids (our daughter, and a couple of others)...we had almost $400 sent in to us just from the insert and then of course we made more $$ at the fundraiser itself..... Anyway, just wanted to share this idea in case anyone here needs some an idea of something that has worked for others!!

Great Job on the fundraising!
