Vests

I have an old ThAIRapy Vest I forgot the brand name, but it is the same as the HillRom company now. I am hearing about different vests, Smart Vest, RespirTech Vest... it seems like some people have tried more than one brand. What are some of the differences?

I don't think the HillRom vest works very well for me, I have tried both the full and chest vests. But what about these other brands?

Which vest do you like best and why?
Thanks for your opinions!

I have only tried two different vests. Our hospital has Hill Rom. It's one of the older versions, it's huge and there's a "pedal" to stand/sit on while you do the vest. The pedal is really annoying and the two hoses pop off sometimes during the treatment. (I was using the single patient use vest with the Hill Rom in the hospital)

At home I have the SmartVest. It's the very first vest I ever tried. There's only one hose, and it "locks" into place, never comes off during a treatment. I don't know that it feels any different than the Hill Rom to me.

Amy is the expert on the Respirtech. She has posted that the technology is different from any other vest. Let me see if I can get this right, the Hill Rom and Electromed (SmartVest) use square frequency waves and Respirtech uses triangular frequency waves, as Dr Warwick thinks triangular waves are superior for airway clearance. I have yet to try the Respirtech.

I really want to try the Frequencer, which is completely different technology and not a vest at all. Our clinic has one, but I have yet to ask to get my hands on it.

If you go to my blog, and scroll down to categories, click on Warwick's Letter (unfortunately, the #s next to my blog still haven't been fixed... so frustrating to me and all who read my blog as a reference).

Dr Warwick is the man who invented the Vest (both HillRom and Respirtech). I posted a letter he wrote discussing the differences between the devices. It's very helpful.

If you want to read more about Warwick, this article is incredible. http://www.newyorker.com/archi...6fa_fact?currentPage=1 I decided to go all the way to Minneapolis to visit him when I read this article....

if you want to read my views on why I like the respirtech WAY better than go to respirtech under my blog.

Basically more user friendly, hoses dont pop off, vest doesnt ride up, only shakes the chest area not my eyes LOL, and more effective and easier to travel with, theres more but I forget that is why I saved the blog.

Previoiusly I had the hillrom 103 (big with pedal).

PS my hospital is getting respirtech on April 22nd, respirtech will rpovide FREE vests to your hospital if you can get them hooked up wiht them or your clinic then they will give them one free to so that patients can try it tha tway and see if they like it.
