Vests

I am thinking about persuing getting a vest for my daughter and would like to know if there are pro's and con's to the specific brands of vests. I know "the vest" seems to be fairly popular and that there is another company making a competitive vest, but what is your personal experice with the equipment and companies.

I have Hil-Rom Vest. I am very happy with it. It is really the only PT treatment that has ever worked for me. I was a skeptic at first that it could not possibly be worth what they charge for it, but it is worth every penny for me. I only wish now I had it sooner. I would highly recommend everyone at least try it.

My one piece of advice would be to have her try one at your clinic or something first. It does work well and a LOT of people like it. But I also know of many people that <b>hate</b> it, including myself. It also happens to be not very nice to boobs. That shouldn't be a problem for now if she's still a child, but she'll get to it where one day, it really becomes an issue. If you're actually paying for it yourself, just make sure she'll really be okay with doing it before you spend the money.

I created a very long answer to this question and put it on my blog -- so if you would like to take a few minutes reading it, go check out my blog page.

The short answer is I found three companies:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.electromed-usa.com/index.html
">http://www.electromed-usa.com/index.html
</a>
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.respirtech.com/product.htm">http://www.respirtech.com/product.htm</a>

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.thevest.com/
">http://www.thevest.com/
</a>
We decided to go with Hill-Rom's The Vest

We got a free 30 day trial of two of these companies, so like Emily suggested, it is easy to try out the vest at clinic or in your own home -- just call up these companies they are very eager to have you try their machine.

We have both the Vest and the medpulse 2000. My kids won't even use the vest anymore. the medpulse vest has a softer fabric and they perfer this one. Although I know that we have the older model of the vest, not sure if it has changed much. Also the medpulse brand is nice for traveling, it comes with a bag and has a wheeled carrying case. See if they will let you try them out first. Good Luck.
